Lainshaw House

Lainshaw house has been a part of the local area for centuries and it's history is well documented in the History section. The building was last occupied by the now defunct Strathclyde Regional Council as a home for the elderly but was vacated in 1994 because it was uneconomical to run and had lain empty until February 2004. During the 10 years building was unoccupied, it was ransacked, anything of worth was stolen, lead flashings were taken of the roof allowing water to penetrate and destroy most of the interior. In November 2003 a fire was deliberately started in the attic which destroyed what remained of the roof.
