In compiling this record for the Stewarton War Memorial Commitee, I
have thought, that it would be a gratification and a comfort to
families and friends to be able to recall just when and where in the
gigantic struggle these lads bore their noble part. That is the
reason for placing their name's in the order in which they appear,
as well. as for giving, were possible, some brief account of the
campaigns with which they were connected.
The thanks of the
Committee are due to relations and friends who have provided the
needful information, and to the proprietors of the "Kilmarnock
Standard," the "Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald," and the "Ayrshire
Post" for their kind permission to use the photographic blocks in
their possession.
