The following photographs belonged to Jenny Sim who, after the death of her husband David ran the Nether Robertland mills that used to stand in wylie place.

Following the passing away of Mrs Sim the photographs were gifted to close friend Elizabeth McGinley who has kindly allowed them to be shown on Stewarton.org for the enjoyment of the community.

James Taylor Brown was born in Stewarton in 1883 and lived most of his life locally. As a boy he showed tremendous promise with his imaginative drawings, sketches and colour work and this was the beginning of a career in art. As can be seen, he owned a own shop in Main Street, (currently occupied by an opticians shop) selling newspapers, books, and confectionery,

Below are a small selection of black & white photographs which he later colourised and had made into postcards.
