BY GLAZERT STREAM

By Glazert stream I wandered at the gloamin's gentle fa',

Where through the bonnie Kennox woods it winds past Bicket Ha

The mavis song in rapture frae a tree upon the brae,

A welcome to the coming night, a farewell to the day.

F lingered till the darkness fell to hide tne scene sae fair,

My thoughts upon the end of life and that calm gloamin' there,

As musing thus my footsteps I slowly hameward turn,

The silence only broken by the murmur of the burn.

Ere I leave this scene forever and that river's sound I hear,

May its murmur like the Glazert fa' sweetly in my ear,

When the shadows gather round me and the time will not be lang,

Like the mavis in the gloamin', hail the darkness wi' a sang.
