STEWARTON

Taken from the 1972 Bonnet Guild Festival Guide

Oh, I know all about it,

Dry As a desert for forty years, no pub

For miles, and strangers wondered why

Now four oases, and a club.

And the sewage works they're building now

To turn the Annick fresh and clear

Took forty years. Oh, I know how

The wheels turn rather slowly here.

I know. We've heard it all before.

And yet there may be infinite

Stars in its heaven. And what is more,

It's where we live; there's beauty in it.
